Good News to Summer League Players: Early Bird Deadline pushed back to June 15

HKAHC is now taking Summer League registrations. This summer, league games will be held in the new Megabox ice rink, Kowloon Bay.
For Premiere Division, there will be 8 games per team; and for Regular Division, there will be 7 to 8 games per team.
As for League Fee, if you pay on or before 3 pm of June 15 , the fee is $1,280 each for skaters and $640 for goalies. After that date, we will charge the normal fee of $1,500 each for skaters and $750 for goalies.

ll Players Enjoyed the Try-Out Session at Megabox on Saturday

The HKAHC try-out games in the new international sized rink at Megabox, Kowloon Bay on Saturday, June 9 was a big success. Four Premiere Division teams and two Regular Division teams comprising almost 100 players took part in the try-out. This was the first time the players played on big ice surface in Hong Kong and everyone had fun and enjoyed their time on ice.

HKAHC would like to take this opportunity to thank all participating members and friends for their stern support of the Club. A special thanks also go to the management of Megabox and the Rink Management Group for their support in making available the rink for the try-out session.

Meanwhile, HKAHC has sponsored a team to take part in the World Hockey 5 games at Megabox from June 10-17. The team¡¦s first game was against HK Hitmen on June 10. It will play against UAE at 11:30 pm on June 11; against Dexion Wildcats at 1:15 am on June 14; and against Macau at 3:15 pm on June 16.

HKAHC Annual Dinner cum Award Presentation Successfully Held

The HKAHC Annual Dinner cum AHL Award Presentation on Saturday, 26 May 2007 was successfully held. More than 130 members, league players and their families and friends had attended and enjoyed the great fun and food of the dinner.

Speaking at the dinner, HKAHC chairman Mr. Thomas Wu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all members, players, their families as well as the HKAHC directors and committee members for their contributions and unfailing support of the Club and its activities. Beijing Training Camp in July

HKAHC is planning to organize a 3-day summer training camp in Beijing. The camp will be held from Friday, July 27 to Sunday, July 29. The estimated cost per player is around HK$3,000, which will include air passage, ground transport, 2-night accommodation, coaching and ice fee. Games with Beijing and other teams will also be organized. Anyone who is interested in joining the camp please email bengy.hui@hkahc.com or call Bengy at 2863-4365 to register. 2007 Macau Exhibition Games Another Big Success

HKAHC has successfully organized again another ice hockey exhibition games in Macau on 19 & 20 May 2007. The games who took place in the international sized ice rink at Macau Dome were well attended by five Hong Kong teams and one Macau team. Over 200 players and family or friends went over to Macau and enjoyed very much the 2-day games and the tourism city of Macau.

At the opening ceremony of the games on Saturday, 19 May 2007, HKAHC Chairman Mr Thomas Wu presented souvenirs to supporting organizations and sponsors in appreciation of their help in making the event possible. Attending honorable guests included Mr Vong Iao-lek, the acting President of Macau Sports Development Board who represented the Secretary for Social and Cultural Affairs of the Macau SAR Government; Mr Sylvester Cheong, Director for Sports of Macau Asian Indoor Games Organising Committee; Mr Andrew Chan, Chairman of Macau Ice Sports Federation; Mr Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco Group; and Mr Chui Sai-cheong, member of the Legislative Assembly of Macau.

Mr Andrew Chan, Chairman of the Macau Ice Sport Federation, also announced and appointed both Mr Thomas Wu, HKAHC Chairman and Mr Chui Sai-cheong as Honorary President of the Macau Ice Sport Federation in appreciation of their stern support and efforts in promoting the sport of ice hockey.

More Good News: Hockey Skill Clinic for Macau Exhibition Games Players

HKAHC will host a hockey skill clinic for players attending the coming Macau Exhibition Games on Sunday, 20 May 2007. The clinic will be run by Mr Barry Beck, 5-time NHL All Star, New York Rangers Captain for 5 years and inductee of BC Hockey Hall of Fame.

Players wishing to attend the Hockey Clinic must register their interest with Bengy at 2863-4365 on or before 11 May 2007. The clinic is free of charge. However, spots are limited and acceptance will be on a first-come-first-served basis. So, don¡¦t miss the chance and register early.

Registration for Summer League Now Starts

HKAHC is now ready to take Summer League registrations. This summer, we will organize league games for 2 divisions in the new Megabox ice rink, Kowloon Bay.

For Premiere Division, we plan to have 5 teams and 8 games per team. As regards League Fee, early bird is $1,280 each for skaters and $640 for goalies. Deadline for early bird registrations is 26 May. After 26 May, we will charge the normal rate of $1,500 each for skaters and $750 for goalies.

For Regular Division, we plan to have 4 teams and 7-8 games per team. Early bird fee is $1,280 each for skaters and $640 for goalies. Early bird registration deadline is also 26 May. After 26 May, the regular fee is $1,500 for skaters and $750 for goalies.

The rate for part-time players is $190 per game. And, additional game for roster players is $80 per game.

Limited spot is available, first come first serve.

Hotel Information on Macau Exhibition Games on 19-20 May

HKAHC's exhibition games in Macau on 19-20 May 2007 have continued to receive extremely enthusiastic response from hockey players in town.
Members interested in participating are again advised to register as early as possible.

The entry fee for Members is $650 and for Non-members $900. The entry fee will include 2 sets of returned boat tickets;
transportation from the ferry pier to the ice rink in Macau and at least 4-5 games depending on the number of participating teams.
The fee does not include hotel accommodation for the night of 19 May.

On hotel accommodation, we have identified and reached a good deal with a reasonably priced good hotel in Taipa - Hotel Taipa Square (氹¥JÂ@´º°s©±) - for players to consider.
The price is $500 per room per night with double occupancy and breakfast for two. As it is a Saturday night,
the price offered is already the best we can find.

Those who wish us to help secure rooms at Hotel Taipa Square please email to havefun@hkahc.com or call Bengy at 2863-4365 on or before 1 April 2007 to confirm your requirement and make payment.
Otherwise, we can't guarantee room availability. Members may also make own accommodation arrangements elsewhere in Macau.

Again, please be reminded that only those who have registered and paid the entry fee $650 for member and $900 for non-member will be considered.
The registration is non-transferable and the entry fee is non-refundable.
If the number of spots available is over-subscribed, the entry fee will be refunded to those unsuccessful applicants.

 Macau Games in May Draw Enthusiastic Response

HKAHC has already received very enthusiastic response since announcement of the exhibition games in Macau on 19-20 May 2007 in our eNEWS on Monday. Members interested in participating are advised to register as early as possible although the deadline for registration and payment has been set for 15 April.

In view of a number of enquiries received about team participation and priority of participants, HKAHC would wish to clarify that while registration is basically based on the principle of first-come-first-served, priority will be given to those active player members in the current 2006-07 AHL Winter League, then followed by other non-active members.
Non-members are also welcome but they would be placed on the wait-list and will be considered after the registration deadline, but entry fee is $900. New members who joined on or after 5 March, 2007 will also be put in the wait-list and be considered after the registration deadline.

In order to ensure that players of different levels and different teams would have a chance to share the joy and experience of playing on a standard-sized rink, we only accept individual registrations. However , if members of the same team wish to remain in the same team roster, we would try to accommodate, but there is no guarantee. We sincerely beg your understanding of this arrangement for the development of ice hockey in Hong Kong.

On Sunday (Feb 25), HKAHC members and their friends shared the fun and excitement of our first ever Chinese New year Bowling Tournament held in newly opened Hong Kong Bowling City at EMax, Kowloon Bay.

Good News: Chance to Play in Full-Size Rink in Macau Again

Subsequent to the successful exhibition games in the Macau Dome last year, HKAHC is going to organize again a 2-day event in the full-size rink in Macau on the weekend of 19 and 20 May this year. Later in the year, HKAHC would also move its fall/winter league games over to the new full-size rink at Megabox, Kowloon Bay

Playing 5 on 5 on an international sized rink is indeed a great experience for all hockey players. Players who wish to join the Macau exhibition games in May this year please register your interest with us. If there is sufficient number of players we will set up 2 divisions so that every player can enjoy the best ice time they can have.

Transportation to and from Macau as well as hotel accommodation in Macau will be arranged so that players and their family members can really enjoy their stay in this tourist-friendly territory. The participation cost will be announced later through the eNEWS and our poster site at the Dragon Centre ice rink. HKAHC Wishes Members a Healthy & Happy Year of the Pig

With the approaching of the Chinese New Year end of this week, HKAHC would like to take this opportunity to wish all its Members a Healthy and Happy Year of the Pig.

In the new year, HKAHC will make every effort to continue to develop the sport of ice hockey in Hong Kong. Fellow members will have a chance to play on the newly completed international sized ice rink at Megabox, Kowloon Bay.

In addition, HKAHC will continue to arrange exhibition and tournament games both in and outside of Hong Kong for members to enrich their experience in international competitions.
