What is HKAHC ?

HKAHC, the Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Association, established in April of 2001, is a non-profit association which aims to promote the sport of ice hockey in Hong Kong.

Our name has been changed from "Hong Kong Amateur Association (HKAHA)" to "Hong Kong Amateur Hockey Club (HKAHC)" with effective from July 2005.

Who are we ?
We are a group of volunteers who want to see the sport of ice hockey enjoyed by everyone in Hong Kong. HKAHC's stance towards non-violent participation has encouraged wide support from the hockey community.

Who plays in the league ?
Our players come from all walks of life, from ages fourteen to over forty. Some players began playing when they lived abroad, and some are citizens of other countries, while there are also a good number of players that started playing in Hong Kong. Many of these players started in figure skating or roller blading, but showed strong interest once they became aware of ice hockey played in Hong Kong.

What is the current skill level in the league ?
At present, we are focusing on the players who are at the entry to intermediate level. We believe we can bring up our skill level through a series of events, such as practices, relaxing competitions, formal tournaments with playoffs, and with trips abroad to other regions.

Where the money comes from ?
Most of our funding comes from our participants. We are looking at ways to keep the cost down in order to draw a wider audience.

Where is the ice rink located ?
The ice rink is located on Level 8, SkyRink, Dragon Centre, 37K Yen Chow Street, Sham Shui Po, Kowloon, HONG KONG (Any question regarding the rink availability, please Tel: 2307-9264)

What do you do ?
Our activities include local hockey league competitions as well as some international friendly matches. It is our hope that through our activities, we can allow more people, especially young people and those who have not seen ice hockey before, to enjoy the excitement of hockey games, either by taking part or just watching.

Currently, our activities include organizing hockey leagues, solely and jointly with other similar organizations. Over 150 players have participated in our league games. We have also held exhibition games with the Macau hockey team. We are also in contact with players from other countries, such as Korea and Japan, for more activities in the coming years.
